David Edwards brings his Chartered Engineer approach to Rykneld as well as over 16 years of rail vehicle engineering and operations experience. David began his engineering career designing, fabricating and installing chilled cold-water facilities for heavy industry before entering the UK railway industry. Whilst working for two mainline inter-city Train Operating Companies David applied his previous engineering experience to enhance his knowledge in the areas of: vehicle maintenance/overhaul instructions, maintenance optimisation, balanced exam regimes, condition assessment, fleet asset management, whole life cost, component overhaul, remote condition monitoring, route compatibility, approvals, diesel engine performance bench testing, catastrophic Diesel engine failure analysis, on-track plant testing and acceptance assessment, assessing Common Safety Method for Risk Evaluation & Assessment (CSM-RA) assessment submissions and vehicle (aluminium & steel bodied) major accident repairs.
Additionally, David has been directly involved in project managing aspects associated with a fleet of trains; some requiring liaison with Her Majesties Revenue and Customs as well as Her Majesties Treasury.
